A children’s book that was made the other way around
Sometimes there are evenings when one can not fall asleep. Something is always rustling, the blanket is too warm, the refrigerator is humming or the siblings are endlessly reading under the blanket with the light on. You know it, right? At that time, when the mind is unstoppable, you count sheep to finally fall asleep, try breathing exercises, plug your ears, turn from one side to the other, or just stare at the ceiling. And sometimes… Sometimes memories come up. Ideally, they are beautiful and can finally transport our restless minds to places where we have always felt good and safe and to people we loved.
Dorothy and her older brother Eugene also pull out old memories before going to sleep. Do you remember? Dorothy always asks and then they start talking and interrupting each other and again talking about grandpa and his traveling slippers, grandma and her „firecrackers“ – the best steamed sweet buns in the world, the little pig that rides the blue bus, the rooster that doesn’t crow or the biggest and heviest blankets in the world.
This book was created the other way around. At first, there were illustrations by Oľga Hoffstädterová for an old book, and they later served as inspiration for Soňa Púček Balážová to write the stories of Dorothy and Eugene. Can you hear them? I guess they fell asleep already. So good night! Miraculous creatures are already flying in the air.
